Six-time Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer Amy Van Dyken Rouen was seriously injured in an ATV accident on Friday. She had been driving the ATV through a parking lot at Torreon Golf Club when witnesses said she launched over a curb. The Associated Press reported that she severed her spine. Amy, 41, is in the ICU of a Scottsdale hospital and is listed in good condition.
“I’d gone to two Olympics. I got six gold medals. I had world records, American records,” she explained to Women’s Adventure a few years ago. We’re confident that Amy, proud of her athletic accomplishments and satisfied with her passionate charity work, will make a strong recovery.
